Greek heating allowance (epidoma thermansis): your amount by settlement
Two identical households on the same fuel get different heating allowances in two different villages. The difference is the settlement’s coefficient.
Checked by Radif Partners · Editorial policy
In Thessaloniki, a family with one child heating with natural gas received €187 of heating allowance for the 2025-2026 winter; a single person with electric heating there received €182. The Greek heating allowance (επίδομα θέρμανσης), paid by the tax authority AADE, is the reference amount for your fuel, €325 for gas, €300 for heating oil or €380 for electricity, raised by 20% for each child and multiplied by your settlement’s weather coefficient (ΣΟ-Μ). It never falls below €100 and is capped at €800, except in the 615 cold settlements with a coefficient of 1 or more, where 25% is added and the cap rises to €1,000 or €1,200. To receive the whole amount you need fuel purchases worth twice as much. Income limits start at €16,000 for a single person. Type your five-digit postcode and the calculator finds your settlement’s coefficient in the official annex.

Why your settlement changes everything
| Town | Postcode | ΣΟ-Μ | Gas, 1 child | Electricity, 1 child |

The coefficient is not set by region but by settlement: 19,435 of them, listed by postcode in the government gazette. In the south and on the islands it is so low that most households get the €100 floor; in western Macedonia and the Pindus mountains it passes 1 and the uplift kicks in. Sites that quote “up to €800” cannot tell you what you will get. This calculator reads the same line of the annex that AADE reads.
Two coefficients exist. The climate coefficient (ΣΚ), fixed before the winter, sets the December advance and decides where firewood and pellets qualify. The weather coefficient (ΣΟ-Μ), measured over the actual winter and published afterwards, sets the final amount. Where a settlement is missing from an annex, the decision uses the postcode average, and the calculator flags it.

Who qualifies
Family income, actual or deemed, excluding tax-free amounts, must not exceed €16,000 for a single, widowed or separated person and €24,000 for a married couple or civil partners, plus €5,000 per child; €29,000 for a single-parent family. Property on the ENFIA assessment must stay within €200,000 or €260,000, plus €40,000 per child. A couple with one child can therefore earn up to €29,000 and own up to €300,000. People liable to the luxury living tax, owners of more than two cars and anyone with business turnover above €80,000 are excluded.
Timeline of the 2025-2026 season
Applications were made on myAADE until 5 December 2025. An advance was paid by 23 December 2025: 60% of last year’s allowance for returning claimants, and for new ones half the reference amount times the climate coefficient, at least €80 (€138 for the Thessaloniki gas family above). Purchases counted from 1 October 2025 to 31 March 2026, from 15 October for heating oil and from 1 June 2025 for wood and pellets. The balance was paid by 29 May 2026, later for gas, district heating and electricity bills.

The cold-settlement uplift, and one ambiguity
Where the coefficient is 1 or more, the allowance rises by 25%, capped at €1,000. Where it is 1.2 or more, the decision adds “a further 25%” capped at €1,200, without saying whether that 25% applies to the original or the already increased amount. Rather than pick one silently, the calculator shows both figures; they meet at the cap.
